I am passionate about:
Telling stories of creative Africans who solve problems and build capital in Africa and sharing their solutions with the developed world. I'm inspired by a Kenyan project here < https://goo.gl/rM9vFy > and see others I'd like to collaborate with.
A little known fact about me is:
I love Africa for its singing and dancing, as well as the goals I live for now.
Show my name on the attendees list for events I am attending:
"Resourceful networker films stories and pushes forward."
After careers in teaching, building a media center, producing public television documentaries and college teaching in media and writing in Boston, I traveled to Central America, Saudi Arabia and South Africa for photo and video projects. In 2011, I followed students to Africa to document their startups with my camera. The creative youth and ideas I found were flabbergasting and belied most media coverage I had seen of Africa. Stories about their insights and resolve to correct serious social and health problems begged to be told.
Thanks, Susannah, and you ecoart projects are intriguing. I am looking for collaborators to build audiences for stories on on #cleancookstoves, as well as Cyrus Kabiru in Nairobi, who "gives trash a second chance" and makes collectibles from digital garbage.
@SULI I love this project and its team. GREAT WORK Guys. If you get a partner team in East Africa, let me know -- I missed you at SOCAP. I want to film you working with them. @YWInventors and @AfricanMakersMedia dot com.
Eric, it was such a pleasure meeting and learning about the Berkman Center's global program in Youth and Media, especially in Africa! Looking forward to collaborating on shared goals and trading ideas, introductions and skills. Till next time -- who knows, maybe you could visit Nairobi for a podcast diary...?
