Hey Maddie, I think something as simple as using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the like where a group of people in an office can issue a challenge and invite and encourage people to participate.Just a random thought- for example, if your city has a marathon each year, people can form groups and train for the run while updating their progress (miles run per day/week, what they ate etc) on social media.
It's something that takes place in my hometown, where a company is the title sponsor of the annual marathon and their employees are encouraged to participate. I think it's all about doing it with people who you like spending time with, it's more fun that way too.
Though I guess there can be an opportunity to see if sponsors of the World Cup have such initiatives within their companies and how can they engage with customers for this specific reason (encouraging healthy lifestyles) and what would be an incentive for people.
This event is certainly a great opportunity, and technology will definitely play a key role, given it brings people together. I guess specifically targeting the fans through a social media platform or any specific mobile/web application is one way. They can form groups among friends, peers and challenge themselves and others through activities that encourage a more healthy lifestyle.
