Hi Stephen,

Thank you. The SMS-based alerts will have a simple interface, and mostly involve important messages, warnings and instructions. As far as implementation of the idea goes, it is always useful to have the support of the government. The telecommunication authority was deregulated in 2004 therefore is not centrally controlled. The telecom service providers may need to be approached, but within the given frameworks of mobile social networks (such as SMSall).

Hi, We look forward to Amplify's support in further developing and refining this technology and its application. At one end we would be looking for assistance on implementing this idea in a community that needs it the most and would require support in doing so. Getting the government officials on-board would be a challenge, and assistance would be required to arrange for dialogues and round table discussions between stakeholders and government officials. Training a cohort of community leaders on using this technology and spreading it across their community would also be one of the areas where support would be needed. Thanks!

Hi!
LEAD Pakistan has held a focused group discussion with potential users, city government officials and the Urban Unit of the government in November 2015. Our partner, the Urban Unit Punjab, has the richest expertise in the region to develop such tools and successfully implemented in flood emergencies, elections, wheat procurement, dengue mapping and other such occasions. The partner is technically facilitating us in development and improvement of the tool to finally implement it in next summer. The proposed technology is based on the state of the art GIS based knowledge management platform called IRIS Punjab. Moreover, LEAD Pakistan is also collaborating with ICIMOD and Hi-Aware to implement a heat pilot in Faisalabad city. The TV commercials and other mass awareness methods including the social media are an essential part of LEAD Pakistan’s project management approach and will be used once we procure support of all stakeholders for implementation of the technology.
