I am passionate about:
ridding the world of war as the cash cow/golden calf. Humanism, care and love are ideals that become increasingly tarnished in a world culture that shuns community and lives for profit. Technology can and must be used to address the human condition.

"Ethics is not just a theoretical study, but a practical skill to be taught."
I grew up in a family entrenched in the performing arts, my late father a concert violinist and my mother, a concert pianist. My siblings and I branched out into experimental theatre and opera. I perform in NYC theatrical venues and tour abroad to this day. At the dawn of the personal computer age, I began an autodidactic study of IT, applying what I had learned as I learned it. 2011, I graduated Summa cum Laude from the CUNY BA Program with a BS in Integrated Web Application and Design. I am now a Masters candidate at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Integrated Digital Media program.
Thanks for your response. It's very true that HIV and, in fact, LGBT community suffer taboos within the New York City Latino community. Indeed, among my suggested first steps for this idea are contacting organizations already at work on this issue in New York City. I actually link to several of them.
In full disclosure, I am a graduate student at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, and this project started as an academic assignment. However, I am very open to any suggestions and/or assistance from anyone who might like to join the effort.
Again, thanks for your comment, and please refer anyone you know who might have suggestions of their own
You are quite welcome. In full disclosure, I am a Masters Degree candidate at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering in the Integrated Digital Media program. I have been studying ideas submitted to this openIDEO challenge as part of a Design Thinking course focused on ideation and prototyping.
I am now preparing to submit my own idea to the challenge as the final assignment for the course.
You are correct. I do have some skills in web design. My current focus in the Integrated Digital Media program is in web design/development and mobile applications design/development. Thus far, my web experience has been in static pages, but I have been slowly retrofitting existing sites and completely redesigning others as I fill in my skill sets.
I might very well be interested in helping out your proposed idea, with the caveat that my skills are still a work in progress and that graduate studies could very well trump my availability at times.
If you would like to discuss this more, I am happy to speak with you. My university email address is email@example.com.
Thanks for contacting me. If I can be of any help, I am more than happy to do so.
Few things must be approached with more sensitivity than people's perception of their own sexuality, sexual preferences and cultural perception of the same. This sensitivity becomes all the more important when dealing with taboos enforced by religious and or spiritual beliefs.
This is one of the strengths I see in your approach of starting from a standpoint of building a positive perception of self, one's body and one's sovereignty. Rather than tear down the taboo, you propose to build in its place a positive alternative. Though we must sometimes dismantle that which oppresses us, it is equally important to build the alternative.
I would venture to guess that provision of private means of sex education, as you suggest in your project, might not only demystify, but without actively "tearing down" taboos, which would no doubt militate against strongly entrenched cultural belief systems, but gently and gradually dissolve such taboos as those who participate in private educational campaigns, begin to see how the taboos hold them back and harm them.
