To reduce the expenses of the "Free School" system, would it be possible to recruit numerous volunteer teachers that are skilled in various trades to teach the children? The "free school" teaching method could be incorporated into the less expensive "closed school" model by incorporating these volunteers.
The ideal volunteer teacher would be an older community member that is well respected and especially skilled in a trade that would be particularly engaging to a young student. An example of this would be a fireman/woman. The fireman/women would come teach a mini-unit on firefighting.
This would allow the students to be exposed to an interesting and engaging subject matter that would fall outside the boundaries traditional "closed school" teaching method.
Problems with this include the need to recruit a fairly high number of volunteers in order to produce a productive curriculum.
Perhaps "Project Peanut Butter" could be the organization that would support producing a product with your messages on the packaging. The Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods would be excellent vessels for health information/nutritional instruction.
