Hi Mai Anh Nguyen , Thank you for your contribution! The monthly fee would be determined based on the community input and how much each household is willing to contribute. It is to ensure community investment and the long-term maintenance of the system. We have spoken with the residents of Urur/Olcott Kuppam and their local panchayat about the fee and gained support. In each village where we facilitate this process, we would adapt the funding + maintenance plan to meet their unique needs and desires.

Langston Hamer-nagle Thank you for reading through our submission and proposing your questions. For the monthly fee, it would be adjusted based on use and income level. For installing better sanitation systems, currently there are few to none. The community is in need of a proper system and disposal method of sewage, as of now it accumulates on the shore. We plan to install a new sanitation system, preferably incorporating new innovative methods including phytoremediation and other methods of naturally treating water/waste. At this current time, we have collected household data from every establishment in the village. Once we have processed the data, we will have a percentage for keeping the project sustainable. Lastly, our goal is to provide a participatory design process to work with the community and decide on which sanitation systems work best for them to ensure the adoption of the new technology. Until this process has been completed we won't know the monthly fee amount and if in fact we need residents to pay a monthly fee. We will discuss this with the community.
