"Accentuate the Positive"
Hi! I'm Datrianna Meeks, creative strategist, designer, and multipotentialite. I focus on how I can exceed expectations and knock clients' socks off. I enjoy creative problem solving, simplicity, and collaboration.
I'm in the process of applying to grad school and one thing that stood out to me about many programs is that some classes are now held at the the facilities of popular design firms, such as IDEO and Frog. Maybe you could consider taking the kids outside of the school, and seek to partner with design consultancies. This way, you aren't restricted to the school's infrastructure and the kids can be inspired by the new environment. The aesthetic in the classroom is at the discretion of teacher, so they aren't all created equal, but the environment in a design studio should be collaborative and fresh, elements that positively contribute to the creative process. Also, hosting the labs at design firms allows for increased participation from professionals and gives the kids an idea of potential careers to pursue.
