Dear Dr Jaswinder: World population will be more than 9.5 billion in 2050. To feed so many mouths, another 400 million tones of cereal production will be required. To achieve this milestone,we need to enhance nutrient use efficiency through sustainable and integrated nutrient management approach. Phosphorus is one of the essential mineral nutrient required for plant growth and is considered as an energy currency. It is estimated that available phosphate rock reserves could be exhausted in next 100 to 150 years. There is dire need to enhance phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) in plants using advanced molecular and genomic tools and approaches. Initiation of phosphate smart agriculture idea is right call at right time. I fully support and very much open for this collaborative research work.
