Hi Jean Pierre, The idea is actually very simple. Our goal is not to change people’s cultures or religion, but we only wish to inform them and provide them with the education they will never have otherwise. For example, a few years ago HIV was so stigmatised that people affected by the disease were considered unclean and some people even refrain from shaking their hands. Now, with Global education are more informed about the way HIV is transmitted and have become a bit more accepting. We hope to train pioneers for a couple of years and those pioneers will stay in the communities they live in and inform their people for as long as it takes. We expect to see change with 2 to 5 years. However, as you may know, changing people’s mentality may take a little longer.
Hi Lynne, Thank you for your interest in my idea. We will first introduce the concept to the people in charge of instructing or informing. They can be community leaders, guides or teachers. On previous projects we had partnered with universities and small neurologic clinics to bring a more visual and palpable explanation of epilepsy. The idea is to target the community leaders first, then we will personally train a group of teachers or caregivers who will ultimately reach and stay in the community. We hope to provide different classes and EEG equipment to make the learning experience less complex. Thank you and best of luck to you too,
Hello Amudu, Thank you for your contribution to the platform. I see the potential for us to work together. Please take a moment to look at our idea and give us some feedback. https://challenges.openideo.com/challenge/2019-bridgebuilder-challenge/ideas/demystifying-epilepsy
