Tony commented on Funded Project scholarships

Perhaps schools can get companies to work with them to offer work-for-scholarship opportunities like these and offer them to incoming students, like they do with work-study. Or this can go beyond just companies working with schools to offer scholarships but perhaps entire communities can offer scholarship through the school, if they give back or work with some community organization to meet some goals.

Yeah, what I am proposing is only a piece of a puzzle. This idea can only work in conjunction with the proper training on how to build, maintain and use the machines. Quickly identifying Ebola cases will help the ground forces to respond quickly to Ebola cases and provide data sooner to any emergency command centers. The more data the command center receives, the better chance that they will have in devising the appropriate strategy to containing the outbreak in their region.

Tony commented on Solar EMpowered Communities

Hi Alexis, I really like your idea of hooking the community up with solar power panels so that it can provide the source of energy for public lighting. It has been shown that places that are better lit tend to be safer.

In the movie, Urbanized, it mentioned that there was a township in South Africa called Khayelitsha that tried to tackle the safety issues using public lights and 24-hr watch towers that also lights up at night. I thought you'll be interested in checking that out. Below is a couple of links describing the general idea and results of what was implemented in Khayelitsha township since 2005.
