I could not say it better than commenter #3 "ryanc86" in the comments section of the article. In short, flabbergasted but also not surprised. The filter bubble is strong among the citizenry of the internet. The challenge is to step back and acknowledge access issues and critique the appropriateness of these services that we accept as given. Is Code Academy appropriate? In the context of limited time and resources probably not. However, Black Girls that Code and Hacker Dojo might be a better platform in this instance.
Hi Meena, I originally used markup not realizing that i was in a WYSIWYG. After deleting the markup and hitting update I got what you see in my post which is blah. When I edit my post I do not see any of the html and only the nice clean text and links in the WYSIWYG editor. Ghost in the machine's cache I guess...
