This contribution stems from my experience and an amazing moment I had in Haiti. My husband and I travelled there a few years ago to encourage and equip teachers through world orphans organization! I was overwhelmed by the post earthquake chaos and the incredible steps needed to remedy so many problems. But each morning as I sat on the balcony of our host home, I watched a storekeeper across the street sweep his spot, his place, his section of the sidewalk and street. It was immaculate with trash and debris and sewage to his left and right. This man took hold of his section of the land and put back the pieces to the destruction they faced. I thought if everyone in Haiti could just take hold of their spot, their place and make that spot right, so many problems would be answered. We make things too complex at times when we should empower those in the midst and keep it simple. It doesn't solve all the problems, but it is an important step in the journey! Empower and equip those refugees. All of us have experiences to share and something to give.
