I worked in the Cybersecurity industry for many years and was responsible for communicating complex security topics to customers and the general public. Around 2011, I became increasingly aware of a higher reported number of data breaches as compared to past years. I started to track these in a database and created a unique data visualization to convey the impact, frequency, and attack types of these security incidents. Since then, I have left corporate employment to focus my attention towards other creative pursuits with photography, dreams, and human consciousness.
Hi Rebecca. I like how your ideas evolved since the mentoring call. In addition to an excellent artistic style, I think you've done a great job presenting the importance of getting rid of "default settings" and applying updates, without dipping into negativity or fear based depictions.
Absolutely, thanks Jen. There are so many simple "tools" anyone can access which can still be very damaging -- like DDoS or ransomware scripts which operate at the push of a button and can take down a whole server or even town as we've seen in the last couple weeks in Texas and elsewhere..
Thanks Patrizia. I like that idea of additional "monsters" which is a good representation of another major issue in cybersecurity in terms of well intentioned campaigns still doing a poor job at securing all that sensitive data they are collecting.
