End of Life experience from a health professional perspective can be different than a normal people. I had an experience with my friend and his family who were into health Profession and was sitting other side of the table when the doctor said that the patient going to be on palliative and NFA. In case of cardiac Respiratory failure the hospital and the team would not take any initiative to the dying person. That was the first time I witnessed, the friend and his sister got shattered and realized it is easy to be sited the other side of the table saying its the decision, but for the patient's family it was hard. However the decision was the treating team and the family members would go and ask the dying person who was the palliative care for his opinion. Interestingly, I witnessed an elderly man stated, "It is not the quantity, I am happy that I had a quality life". His son and daughter had accepted it. The point that made me think about the whole issue, we might extend our life using treatment and a heart-lung machine, but do we really consider the quality of the life the person living because the family had a hard time accepting and dealing with their emotions.
