Jonas Yawovi Dzinekou commented on Higher Education for Social Transformation in Huruma Slum - Nairobi.

Hi Asley,
Thank for the questions. The teachers are the lecturers of Tangaza university college. The program in the slum is an outreach program of Tangaza university college. Our philosophy of training is to unlock the potential of learning and equip them with practical skills of bringing about social transformation and justice for the poor and oppressed, and this is integrated into every aspect of the educational process.
The program is a diploma in civic education and development. It is two years program. This diploma enables the people to proceed to the bachelor program. It is a program that focuses on providing the skills to the slum dwellers to solve their development challenges. As an outreach program, the university is more interested in creating impact in the slum, providing access to higher education to the slum dwellers. Therefore, it is subsidized.
The website of the university is http://tangaza.org
The program does not have it own website but you can check more information on the facebook of university mtaani
I hope I have answered the questions. I will glad to provide any other information you need.
Thanks
