"With a "Yes And!" point of view, you can change the world"
How can we use principles/tools from one sector, and apply them to another? I am a researcher and soon to be graduated PhD student from Stanford University studying Molecular Biology. Before studying at the d school and being introduced to design thinking, creativity and imagination were not very common ideals in my line of work. After being infected with the d school state of mind and unlocking my inner creativity, I began to see my work in a whole new way. Before, difficult problems would remain such--difficult problems. Now, they're exciting opportunities to iterate and design and it has made my experience so much richer. I've also learned that I can use my skills from both the d school and my PhD and apply them to a number of different sectors, not only biology. Through the d school, I have been able to work with philanthropic organizations, entertainment entities, and a company creating healthy lunches for low income schools. I'm always looking for ways to think differently and attach a solution that has worked in one paradigm and attach it to another. I believe this is where creativity and innovation is made.
