The Electronster is a perfect example how these kind of initiatives could/can work! There's been some really good ideas and vision with the future of the Electronster project and we could definitely take a lot from what they've done and hopefully add our own twists!
Hi Sean. I like this idea. It is addressing the root of the problem in a sustainable way by creating independent development within Africa while keeping the profits within local communities.
I saw an article last year about the water reserves beneath Africa (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17775211) maybe this could be another alternative to improve localised water availability? It certainly seems backward that there is one of the world's largest freshwater aquifers under Africa but yet still there is water shortage!
I guess the only difficulty with the schemes mentioned are the initial set up costs and the technology, all of which will probably inevitably be from Western countries.
