Gretchen commented on A Prescription for Mentoring

Love your build on this idea Bettina and the build on an existing program. It seems like a natural extension to programs like Kaiser's Thrive campaign to support healthy behaviors outside the traditional healthcare environment and to get folks on track with wellness. The mentors could be "wellness advocates" that support 50+ folks with chronic illnesses that require behavior and diet changes or getting them into new routines around medications, check ups and self-monitoring. Would love to see you flesh it out more as an idea in the context of AARP and Mentor Up - partnerships with healthcare providers or schools - who might you talk to to get a solid understanding of how this could work in a healthcare context or as an extension of healthcare in the community.

Really a mystery as to why this didn't work but feel like it is a huge opportunity. Maybe it is more of a niche idea versus a big one that can scale., or maybe it needs to be more driven by the older members. Now I am curious if anything else exists that is similar - some research is needed :-)

I looked for @fashiongrandmas and it exists but there are no posts yet. :-(
We need to get busy and find those stylish older ladies and tag them as well.

Reminds me of the http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com, too. I started a board on Pinterest called aging and pinned a number of images of fashionable women and japanese stylish elders to it.

Maybe we should pair fashion design students with older folks to help them with "ageless style" and get more of these fashion grandparents out on the streets everywhere.
