Very well presented, I do applaud what Tesla did. Thanks for the comment, I fell motivated to pursue this idea more actively.

I do work for a large solar company and look after the engineering of large utility scale solar project. Every time we enter new regions of the world we have to teach local engineers and contractor how to build this type of products and convince financial institutions and their engineers that our product meets the requirement of such long term investment.
I have mentioned this idea of open source design to a few colleagues and consulting engineering firms and their typical response is always a weird look like if they thought I was crazy. As far as I can tell the construction engineering industry has no experience with open source.
I have been following the open source ecology for a while now but I feel that their model is more to provide designs of products you can make yourself with readily available parts. My concept is to create an open standard and some typical designs that will still have to be made with proprietary third party products but in a more proven and recognized way since these products and integration methods will be standard and open.

I apologize, I jumped to conclusion too quickly. The addition of the storage as an integrated product is an interesting concept. I have some experience with PV module manufacturing and battery storage technologies and will be interested in contributing when this becomes a open source project.
