It is so wonderful to see that Polly Hill's legacy will be honored in such an appropriate way, let alone by her Grand-daughter. I am lucky enough to have a small part in also continuing Polly Hill's legacy by running the non-profit Cooperative Childcare Centre, in Ottawa, that Polly started in 1943. As the Director of Bettye Hyde Cooperative Early Learning Centre for the last 25 years I was privileged enough to have spent time with Polly during our 60th anniversary celebration. Polly was a vibrant dedicated professional who continued to inspire and influence Early Childhood Educators and parents well into her final years. The idea of combining a centre for children and Seniors, to spend their days together developing friendships and connections is a natural. At Bettye Hyde Co-op we make frequent trips to our local senior's home and we cherish the connections we see the children make with the people living there. To combine the two "institutions" would put the "home" back into these two important gathering places. The beginning and end of life's cycle are the most critical times to feel connected and loved. Bravo to Faye and Diana - we wish you great success and a long and fulfilling future working with our communities most vulnerable populations. Sincerely, Cindy Mitchell Director B.H.C.E.L.C.
