This is much needed! I had an experience with a member who was in desperate need of refinancing their mortgage to lower the monthly payment - he simply couldn't keep up. We applied and his credit score was too low (along with some outstanding items on it). I saw his need and worked with him to clear up ALL items on his report and how to improve things for the future. In 2 short months, he came back after working diligently on clearing things up and he was able to refi - savings HUNDREDS a month in his payment. It meant the world to him we took step to help him work on the things that would make a difference.
Imagine what we do for people if this was institutionalized and we were there to give guidance on what they need to do. It's a win-win situation where the member gets help and the CU gets the loyalty!
