Jennifer commented on Cheap is an Opportunity

Brilliant! Is the house open to the community to enjoy? Seems like that would be a win-win for both the young architects and the community.
Baltimore has similar issues with rough neighborhoods full of abandoned houses. I wonder if this example can expand to a vacancy-to-artistry model for whole blocks of abandoned houses?

Brilliantly simple. Unlike many other concepts yours does not assume that the detainee has access to any certain technology.

The challenge of keeping awareness from perpetrators may not be easily solved, but maybe targeting awareness through social networks of groups like Amnesty can be a starting point? As in "anyone politically active, and their friends and social networks, should know this symbol..."

Does anyone know the story of how SOS became universally recognized? I don't and wonder if there's anything to be learned.

Jennifer commented on OpenIDEO Design Challenge Card

I applaud the instinct to make OI challenges more widely accessible, but I'm struggling to understand how this would actually hold up, because challenges are constantly in motion. I see that people could add their own inspiration or concepts in this offline manner, but half the fun is being inspired by the other concepts that are posted daily. How does one capture that in a single printing? And, what's to say that someone's idea isn't similar to something going online, and the person misses out on a great opportunity for collaboration?
I think these cards are a fantastic and engaging idea, I just don't think we should construe it as a means of aiding participation in OI challenges, at least not directly. Perhaps they're instead the perfect solution for some of the offline community-based setting that other concepts have proposed.
