Starting up is hard. no money. no time. no resources. Just collaboration and networking. coffee shops that close in the evening open their doors and host start up evenings. The one time those with a full time job have time to meet and work.

Nice work Logan, the spaces could suit different startup business types as well

Some great comments and suggestions here

To pull together and expand few points:

Love opening it up to other people with under utilised infrastructure, that suits those timings of after work and weekend hours, such as quiet nights for clubs or late night openings for libraries - The company would need to have support staff there to monitor proceedings this could be covered by:

Coffee shops and bars - spend at the till
Government/local authorities - government initiatives
Private individuals - covered by minimal per head charge - or act as advertising , buy supporting startups with matched space, if it becomes successful it could be a relationship that develops (e.g space gets rented on a regular basis

What is key is having the ability to match up local startups and their needs with local businesses and their under-utilised infrastructure

An online/mobile service that matches startup needs with spaces and businesses in your local area. Each could list their requirements and conditions, speed dating for startups and willing businesses

For example,

- A business with five meeting rooms and 24/7 security would open up the rooms on a weekend end if it could ensure security and and a small cover change per head to subsidise 24/7 security they may have in place anyway. 5 teams that need to meet and collaborate could sign up for the space
- A bar would open during the day if a minimum drinks tab of £$XXX was set up in the evening. a group of startups needing private space to do a bit of network would be great
- A library would do special late nights if staff costs where covered by bookings. people needing quiet space to focus could attend when numbers reached acceptable levels

2 key elements required for this:

1.Promoting to business about the benefits, ( additional revenue, foster relationships that may turn long term)
promoting to startup s and would be startups that there are business out there willing to help them

Perhaps a small sign up fee for the service could help promote it, along with collaboration, barter and contra deals between startups and businesses to get them going
