Bremley Lyngdoh We were delighted and most grateful for the opportunity to receive guidance from such an experienced mentor. Kinda gave us very helpful feedback highlighting several issue areas that include: 1) creating a referral system or partnership with an institution that has access to a professional psychiatrist/mental health professional for children with higher level trauma 2) addressing the issues that arise with a Train the Trainer model - i.e. fallout rate with individuals trained that are on the move, conceptual meaning lost in translation 3) speaking with the experts for advice on evaluation tools to monitor the impact made with PSS and SEL programs for the 3-6 age range - i.e. she suggested the critical role of observation feedback from the teachers that pays attention to facial expression and behavior 4) the notion of bringing caregivers/parents into the conversation/classes to help them understand how programming meets the needs of the children
Given her expert guidance, and consultations with our Lebanese colleagues, our next steps in improving our proposal will include identifying larger organizations who have a mental health professional/psychiatrist on staff with whom we could partner with to create a referral system for more vulnerable cases. Our users were eager to see a more frequent refresher training model and/or some form of video tutorials on our youtube channel to aid teachers. In terms of evaluation, our users are hesitant to add additional components as they are understaffed; thus, we are looking to redesign the existing tool to be a more condensed version that would include observation reporting for the 3-6 age group.
