I am a senior analyst at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a non-profit, non-partisan public policy think tank. I spend my time thinking about the intersection of technology and policy, such as privacy and security. I am also the project director of the ITIF Accessible Voting Technology Initiative, a group that is working to make elections more accessible for all Americans, especially people with disabilities. I have a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an M.S. in Information Security Technology and Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Cinder, agree with much of what you said and if you look at the ideas that came out of this process, I think you'll see that they do address the types of issues you mention. For example, in our "50 Ideas for More Accessible Elections" report we included ideas like "Hire people with disabilities as poll workers" and "Provide easy-to-read election information." In in our most recently funded grantees are doing projects such as training poll workers and providing more accessible voter guides.
Cansu, thanks for sharing about your different experiences. We loved all the great ideas you brought to the voting challenge. Best of luck as you continue to design products that create a better world.
