Craig commented on Croople small holders futures

Ciao Maurizio Bricola

We need to have a more detailed conversation but in short:

Ashley King-Bischof  has proved that there is access to the market and the idea will fly with Farmers.

The Cryptocurrency challenge can be solved by converting the Cryptocurrency to real currency. That is, you only need process transactions using Cryptocurrency but given a 1:1 exchange rate between your Cryptocurrency and real currency, you don't need to differentiate. Cryptocurrency simply removes the need to use traditional payment processing techniques, and this the costs involved.

I believe that with micro finance you remove the requirement to ask suppliers to pay in advance and for consumers to subscribe. You can effect the ecosystem using the tools you have today and improve it using technology once you have proven the model.

Spot on Ashley King-Bischof . A small, non-technical pilot that allows us to further prove the idea beyond the excellent work that Markit Opportunities for Smallholder Farmers has already done.

Once we've got the process nailed, we can start to enable it with technology and expand to a larger audience.

Kedogo Kedogo as they say in Swahili... Little-by-little.

Just an update for anyone interested. Ashley King-Bischof and I had a long conversation yesterday. Ashley's project covers a few of the outstanding issues that we need to deal with to make this an end-to-end solution, which is perfect. There are still a number of other pieces that need to be resolved, and the challenge of integration is still there.

However, on the whole, I think we have good alignment and a great opportunity ahead of us.
