Jonathan & the Ecdysis team, Well done on your submission! I’m interested to learn about academic relationships that Ecdysis/Blue Dasher Farms may have?
In our submission ( Seedling: A Circular Economic Agricultural Utility. ) we propose to build “Agricultural Utilities” that are partnered with a regional university. Our “technology system” transforms urban food waste into rural agricultural assets (precision organic fertilizers). Our first proposed academic partner is Penn State University (see the AFRI SAS LOI attachment for more information). We leverage the research power of University partners within each public-private partnership installation. Each location develops blockchained “recipes” based on regional farm customer soil compositions, and formulate organic fertilizer nutrients based on crop selection. University intellectual property formulations for hydroponic growth are traded location to location as a leased blockchain formula per each crop. Regional farmers who seek organic certification are provided a fertilizer subscription service that formulates precision organic nutrients specific to their soils for the duration of organic certification (avg 3yrs). The utility also provides brokerage services for the farmer during their transition toward organic, we do this through restaurant relationships and direct-to-customer channels in regional urban centers.
I look forward to following your progress. I’d also like to reach out beyond OpenIDEO to follow up. Thank you, Travis
Hi Kelly, A good place to start is within the video and file attachments to our submission. Any specific questions on CEA design, technologies, and methodologies will be unique to each of our partnered installations.
Thank you Brandon! Perseverance will continue to drive us to the next stage. I messaged with Tyler today, he’s been reading up on Seedling also, sounds like there’s even more talent coming through PSU.
