Hi! There's a Dutch company currently searching for partners to test and validate current studies. Based on initial numbers, plastic roads are much more durable and require less maintenance. Initially they expect that these roads will support high temperatures and a lifespan of ~50 years: http://en.volkerwessels.com/en/news/detail/volkerwessels-introduces-the-plasticroad
Hi Emma, interesting idea. I recently found an organization that's open to make partnerships to escale these kind of projects: http://www.techo.org. What I like from their approach is that they don't focus only on the infrastructure, but they help the community to create workplaces and "dialogue groups" to talk about solutions for local problems, empowering them towards actions.
Hi Shane! First of all, thanks for your comments. Its was curious to find that these organizations work with all these 3 visions (demand, supply and mediation). What you mentioned about "joining forces" sound very interesting and that's precisely one of the insight that those articles reflected.
We see so many organizations working in one or two of these categories, but few of them "synchronizing" each area. Imagine (as you commented) preparation (skills), working opportunities and entrepreneurship developed within the same process and/or throughout collaboration between agencies! Thanks again!
