I had the pleasure to interview my friend Valentina, who is an expert in women issues and now works as Event Webcasting/Live-streaming Producer in the UN - International Women's Rights Action Watch in Geneva. Really insightful and inspiring overview.

Hi Vishal! very interesting! I am really surprised since there was a very similar idea in the Singapore meetup brainstorming. The team came up with an idea to create awareness and educate people through acting out scenarios in the community. Professionals from the theatre together with people from the community will act in the street and simulate a distress situation, and people around will see how they react and learn from them. It won't be too dangerous but it will try to catch up the attention of as much as people as possible. After the act, the performers will stay around talking with the people and giving them advice. This real situation performance will create awareness on how to react in a similar situation as well as educating the community and empower the women. Hope this can be helpful! :)

Hi Michel, this is great! the role of the citizens is crucial to create a welfare environment. This reporting will also help to prevent people of committing acts of vandalism. thanks for the link.

Hola Neysan! Thanks a lot for your input. The kind of training I was thinking is more a self confidence and awareness than brutal or aggressive training. It will be about empower the women to understand and believe that they should not allow to be treated in a vexatious way, and of course seeking for the collaboration with men in the community to educate everyone. This patrols are not meant to react brutally or with the force in case of emergency but instead to create an entity that builds confidence and helps avoid potential problems. Although women will be trained is self defence because this will encourage them to believe that they are capable to react, but it will be only for self defence and not for creating more aggressive behaviours in the community. The most important thing is the organisations of this patrols and to have a central unit where everyone can report and decide if there is need to take further measures, like more vigilants, or more education for awareness, or more counselors, etc.
