This is a very pertinent approach to addressing the psycho social (PSS) needs of teachers and students in Mali affected by the conflict in the North. Similar initiatives in Burundi, Sri Lanka and Sudan led to improved detection of children that needed specialized services and overall access to services (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23335863). This is an opportunity to strengthen quality education by addressing specific PSS needs that could have a negative impact on the teaching and learning process.
