I am passionate about:
Creating an environment that allows children to grow and develop in a creative and meaningful way.
A little known fact about me is:
I am a busy mother of two toddlers and running a daycare out of my home. I am enthusiastic and am always pushing myself to better my community. I enjoy observing children develop through play and meaningful interactions.
Polly Hill Intergenerational Daycare
"I'm proud of many things in my life but nothing beats being a mother."
I am a 30 year old mother of a 3 year old girl and a 1.5 year old boy. I was born in Greece and came to Canada with my parents and brother when I was 10. For as long as I can remember I couldn't wait to grow up, get married and start a family. Both my husband and I have big Greek families so having a family of our own was important to us. Since I was 12 I had been around children. From that time I knew I wanted to work with children. Thus, I went to Ryerson University for ECE and then to Trent University for my Bachelor of Education. Making a difference in children's lives is important to me.
Thank you Candace for your support and interest. That is our goal, to have more Intergenerational daycares around. As far as your questions go, every senior who wants to participate in the program will be required to get a criminal reference check as per standard daycare regulations. Everyone who interacts with the children will need one of those. Thus, not everyone will be screened, just the ones participating in the program. Hope that answers your questions. Please let us know if you want to know anything further. Thank you
