I am passionate about:
teaching and learning with and for new generations of learners who believe in growth mindsets as creative social change for the common good.
A little known fact about me is:
I am a first generation college graduate whose search for family led me through gang-affiliated, fraternal greek and theatre education relationships for nearly 20 years.

Brian LaDuca is the Founding Executive Director of the Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation at the University of Dayton, which launched the only undergraduate certificate in applied creativity in the nation. A national leader in curricular change, his approach to vocation-centered design for social innovation has been a new model for common good impact across all schools of study.
Natalie, thank you so much for the guidance and inspired next steps. I am on the team with Karlos Marshall as well as Adrienne Ausdenmoore and Mike Puckett. We are absolutely going to take the leap with the journey map and we thank you for that recommendation. We have been vigorous in piloting this model with our current 12+ person applied creativity certificate cohorts as that certificate, alone, had to work through and be vetted/voted on by the University's Academic Policy Committee and the Academic Senate.
Our Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT) is not under an academic unit though we managed academic sponsorship from the School of Engineering. The IACT is located in the Provost Office which give great permission to be so cross-disciplinary in collaboration and transdisciplinary in pedagogy. So as we begin our maturation process, at least for now, it seems we have become creative and radical addendum to other schools and college's accreditation paperwork (which of course we are flattered).
I know we look forward to highlighting roadblocks (which have been few thus far) but more importantly some very high level successes and visioning strategies have provided some really new applicable opportunities for Universities across the globe.
Looking forward to really refining this model next week... Have a great weekend. BL
