Q1: The focus of GIS (Geographical Information System) project is to identify geo-strategic social issues, engage the community to assess existing resources and craft locally-appropriate solutions based on geospatial data. It is a software.
Progressively, GIS will discover and share best practices in community-based, sustainable food systems for application in other regions and communities.
Areas of focus for the GIS will be;
Regional/community Food System Assessment
Collection and Analysis of Geospatial Data critical to social innovation.
Also it could help determine; Food abundant areas including locations for farming and gardening, demographic population size and projected demand, consumption of packaged and processed foods, under-served communities, infrastructure network optimization including warehouse locations.
Q2: the local grassroot stakeholders comprise of Nonprofit organizations and their beneficiaries, women empowerment groups, self-help groups and team volunteers. We are still in the prototype phase but about to engage local government on partnering to increase reach
