Research & Digital Media
"Ethnographer & Flâneur."
I currently work as an ethnographic researcher and experience designer for Collective Invention, Inc. in the Bay Area. I am also writing a book on the food scene in Oakland, CA entitled Oakland: New Urban Eating.
In 2011, I graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with an MFA in Dynamic Media. My thesis work explored the use of narrative in dynamic media as a means to augment our experiences of physical places. Projects included user experience design for smartphone and tablet applications as well as site-specific interactive installations.
Prior to graduate school, I was a freelance photographer and filmmaker living in New York City. I have lived abroad in a number of countries including Cambodia, France, and Chile to explore new cultures, cuisines and languages (and trying to make good use of my undergraduate degree in linguistics). I am passionate about connecting with people from a variety of backgrounds, applying ethnographic research methodologies to inform the design process, plucking the guitar, and cooking a new recipe.
