I work on energy access in Haiti. With my team, I'm currently building a first-of-its-kind 'town size solar-powered smart grid' and expanding a retail network of small-scale clean energy entrepreneurs. In the process of building the grid, we spun off a smart meter company with the aim to unlock the business model for delivering grid electricity to previously un- or under-served populations around the world.
In my free time, I'm working with local activists in my hometown of Washington DC to stop a proposed takeover of our local electricity grid. The coalition is working to block the deal and build a vision for a radically better energy system in the nation's capital.
An elegant combination of technology + community building approaches to increasing the share or RE on the grid. Empowering on all fronts. This solution is practical and deployable and would be a great step in opening up new ways for people to participate in their power system. Nice work!
