I have just returned to the U.S. after spending a year working with the United Nations in Thailand. A small town girl from rural West Virginia, my life has taken many unexpected twists and turns, exposing me to new ideas, cultures and creativity I once thought out of reach. What if the status quo was to treat employees like family, friends, and (gasp) people? Would we live healthier, fuller, more meaningful lives? What perceptions and resulting behaviors concerning the modern management culture need to be changed?
