Hi Ben! The older adult is not restricted by moving in only one way. The Plus-Up Aid network of ceiling railway gives the older adult the option to move to different directions of the room and the entire home.He can move freely. It has the mechanism of the seatbelt. When there is a rapid motion it locks the harness and prevents the fall.
Hi Kate! We have worked with residents of a local Assisted Living Facility-ALF in Beirut (Moadieh). We received many feedbacks from older adults after showing them our design: Some were glad that after having the Plus-Up Aid installed in their apartment, they will be able to walk freely and counting more on themselves without holding a walker or cane with a chance of falling down once hitting an obstacle or even due to a sudden back or knee pain. And others were excited and they wanted to try how it feels to be finally independent and walking with a straight back, not bending to grab a walker and having arms and joints stress.
No, the older adults wouldn't wear it in bed. We want to clarify that the harness can be simply buckled and make very light system of fasten belts and easily get hooked to the ceiling hanger, which is sensitive to the user's motion speed.
