I am passionate about:
Creating the next generation undersea laboratory to better understand marine ecosystems impacted by climate change, overfishing and degraded water quality while serving as a proof-of-concept for self-sustained, long-duration undersea habitation.
A little known fact about me is:
I spent five days aboard the Aquarius undersea laboratory in 1993, making me one of 400 aquanauts in the program's illustrious history.

As the director of the FIU's Aquarius Reef Base program, my goals include • Cultivating new partnerships in academia, NGO and private sector as they endeavor to meet challenges of working in extreme environments • Creating experiential learning programs for K-12 students that challenge exceptional thinkers to take ownership in tomorrow's planet and keep the dream of exploration alive • Building upon the $8.6M+ already raised through grants, sponsorship and philanthropic support to fund science and education programming • Ensuring that the best science and education initiatives are rewarded
