At the moment we are working with corn, rice and potatoe farmers. You're right, smallholder farmers are more comfortable with cash crops but as we build a relationship with these farmers and have data, we can be at a better position to guide these farmers in regards to higher value crops
We are currently working on developing crop insurance and farmer insurance. Truth of the matter is crop insurance does already exist however it is too expensive a proposition for smallholder farmers and the challenge is making it affordable for them. By using machine learning and data analytics we can bring that cost down.
"Access to quality inputs" over here means pesticides & fertilizers that are of known brands of international repute and completely unadulterated which in the local Pakistani market is a big challenge, along with certified seeds.
We are using machine learning to automate many of the above mentioned processes. Such as testing soil fertility, gauging credit worthiness etc
This sounds like a great idea. We are an agtech company working in developing countries and it would be interesting to have a chat with you. Please do check out our submission to learn more about us and also give feed back. Cheers
