Engineers Without Borders-USA
A professional civil engineer with 30 years of experience. Internationally, I have completed nearly 100 projects consisting of schools, bridges, water systems and flood control in Central America, Africa, South America, Europe and Asia
Yes, I think you have the just of the project. The project will provide a more reliable energy source than the grid, but the grid is not bad. We are projecting a 10% reduction in energy costs to the 100,000 people who will use the power. This may not sound like much, but to them it is a "bid deal".
We would anticipate 10 construction jobs in the first year and two full time eqivelent positions for the 25 year life of the project.
Our schedule is: Year 1 - construction Year 2 - while the plant is operational, work with the staff to provide training Year 3 - The Municipality would like to invite the other 384 municipalities to a workshop. They believe that there are similar situations around the country that would benefit from seeing the plant operating. Year 4&5 - Although outside the grant, EWB-USA is committed to the municipality to provide continued training and support as needed.
