As a resident of the District and a conservation minded citizen I am encouraged by this kind of collaboration and the potential sources of funding which exist for future cooperative working groups. As a lover of good food it is nothing short of criminal that in our city (indeed in every city) some eat good food and some eat no food. Getting surplus food to those that need it is a no brainer. We all agree on this. Funding a proposal like this one is tantamount to an affirmation of this agreement. With our abundance of food policy non-profits, government agencies and food justice champions D.C. is in a unique position to illustrate why this collaborate model can be so successful. I am thrilled to see this kind of collaboration occurring in my city and am optimistic that this is only the beginning!
