Emily commented on Families Coordinated Access Network (FamiliesCAN)

Dear Illriana,

Thank you so much for your very helpful suggestions and resources. In response to your question about which local, state, and federal agencies and non-profits we'd like to incorporate into our platform, below please find a preliminary list of some of our ideas:

Local: Early Childhood Care Providers (private and public child care centers and home-based family care providers), New Haven Public Schools, New Haven Early Childhood Council, family mental health organizations such as the MOMS Initiative and Clifford Beers Clinic, parent resource networks organized by the Yale Child Study Center and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, United Way of Greater New Haven, Elm City Communities (public housing authority), Office of the Mayor, City of New Haven, DataHaven (community research and data analysis firm), and numerous other family and community resource networks

State: Office of Early Childhood and child care subsidy programs like CARE 4 KIDS and School Readiness grants, CT Voices for Children (advocacy group)

Federal: Administration on Children and Family Services / Health and Human Services, Head Start and Early Head Start

Regarding which organizations would benefit from our solution, we see a much longer list as the challenge to find adequate childcare and resources has a profound impact on the economic development and well-being of the city at large. We anticipate that organizations such as the New Haven Economic Development Corporation, Chamber of Commerce, local employers, and businesses will see a huge impact once our platform is up and running.

As you note, we are still in the early research phase of our work so while we've had the chance to present our idea to many of these organizations we have not had the chance to engage them all deeply in a discussion regarding their involvement in the platform. We're excited to do so as we move forward in our research and planning process.

We will absolutely look into the toolkit and examples of other communities with similar platforms that you sent to learn more. These resources are tremendously helpful at this stage in our planning.

Thank you again for your help and we look forward to further collaboration in the future.

Warmly,
Emily Sharrock
