I am passionate about:
Helping a poor child attain quality education and engage in sports to make use of open opportunities within the society he or he lives.
A little known fact about me is:
I am female Ugandan aged 43, a graduate of Makerere University in Art and Social Sciences. I am a single mother with one child Ali Katumba who is in Secondary school now. I love working with people and helping those in need
Show my name on the attendees list for events I am attending:
I am Oliver Akware, a single mother of one child (Ali Katumba) whose father abandoned with me; I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree of Makerere University Kampala in 2004. Like many other graduates affected by the high rate of unemployment in Uganda, I was unable to find a formal job. Then I took up a bricklaying job offered to me by a contractor.
Let me also mention something about this. We have been following the neqs here in Uganda. Sorry for what is happening. Sometimes I think some of our African couñtries were not ready to be independent from colonilists, because the things I see happening in our countries hinders development and growth. Weaknesses are mostly more than strengths. But I hope our interventions to empower the most sensitive group under the ages 15 - 36 or 40 will reduce such cases of rioting and so many things happening in our countries..otherwise if it wasn't the case of unemployment coupled with illiteracy, poverty and lack of skills to help them become self-sustaining..these things couldn't happen at any point.
Great. Great. You have explained it well and so clear for anyone who would call back to you and request for more information on the same.
I wish you success and I hope your idea will pass this stage. Because, as I visit all ideas or projects here, either in the field of empowering and supporting refugees, disabled people, empowering women or youths...each has an element of skilling, which is good because even if you graduated with Bachelors or Masters through academic, you have to have a practical thinking, meaning those devalue entrepreneurship and technical know how are lying. My organisation has its slogan "Empowering Sustainable Skills" a programme that is inclusive, that a non graduate or graduate should be empowered to match with the need for employable skills.
Hi Sultan, Thank you for liking our noble cause, however, this is the collaborative development where we partner with grassroots organization to empower this children and youth. As an organization we do not have a lot of resource but we play most of our part on empowering them in various skills, this helps them to became self sustainable.
