"the golden rule"
Having a positive impact has long been a motivator for me and drove me to study bioengineering for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Following academics, and craving a more interactive problem-solving environment, I transitioned to the business side of healthcare. For the past three years, I've been working for a sales and marketing strategy consultancy, first in London and now in San Francisco. Through this work, I’ve helped address an array of challenges including: a product launch, emerging market investment strategies, and understanding ways to improve morale in a company’s 20 EU affiliate offices. This work has been rewarding; however, private sector healthcare work just doesn't quite fulfill my need to “do good”. I’ve nonetheless tried to incorporate this into my work by leading a pro-bono project to help identify new markets for a low-cost device company.
I see design as a powerful tool that can solve critical issues, globally. The intersection of healthcare and human-centered design makes me particularly giddy. While healthcare companies continue to create impressive high-cost and high-tech devices, I'm excited by the endless possibilities of low-cost devices, the technologies that are accessible to more than the top 10%.
I'm looking for a project that is dedicated to good causes, and where the passion and energy that I invest (and trust me, there’s a lot of both!) will have a substantial impact on meaningful issues.
