I'm definitely interested in hearing more. Your "Word Play Parties" seem to focus mostly on training the parents to prepare their children for school. Is there a social aspect for the parents as well (above and beyond the fact that any time you get new parents in a room together they automatically have a lot to talk about)? Is there any aspect of the model that keeps these groups together long-term, or are they designed (as Born Learning is) to be a handful of sessions and then the curriculum is complete?
We just posted a similar idea on the OpenIDEO Challenge web site: see "Born Learning Communities."
We seem to be at the same stage: we have identified a need but are looking for guidance on how to meet that need. Perhaps we can work together on this -- or at least share what we learn with one another. Let me know if you think that would be helpful.
