Comprehensive Anticipatory Design Scientist
"We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims. [The challenge is] to make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time, with spontaneous cooperation and without ecological damage or disadvantage of anyone. -Bucky"
Amanda Ravenhill is an expert in biochar, a carbon negative and systemic solution to energy, agriculture, poverty, health and desertification challenges. Her passion for global issues comes from the intersection of two forces: being a TCK (Third Culture Kid: her parents were anthropologists in Africa, where she was born), and her muse: Buckminster Fuller (skilled at solving for pattern to solve myriad of problems at once and creating paradigm shifts). She is a yogini, urban farmer, biker, and mapper who spends her summers in Maine running her own non-profit that teaches children to build traditional wooden boats.
Amanda founded Syntropy International while attending Presidio Graduate School.Syntropy works with local social enterpreneurs who wish to start their own biochar cookstove enterprises and licenses a Syntropy sustainable franchise to them, complete with access to design teams, supply chains, marketing and branding advice, finance, management tools and a host of other proven sustainable business tools. Syntropy will become a network of biochar cookstove franchisees that will have access to one another and be able to function as more than the sum of their parts. Syntropy, the opposite of entropy, means just that: to come together to become a more complete and synergistic whole.
