In the world of business and numbers, I think that financial incentives like tariff and tax exemption would be part of the award package giving them the ability to further "sell" and more easily penetrate new markets.

Also, working to create extended periods within the local patents or creating a new global patent whereby the awarded business would have instant patents in all participating countries. Having the ability to file a patent in one central location and have it propagate out to all major consumerist markets be a great incentive--saving the company time and money.

However, in the end, I think the driving force will most likely be the moral compulsion to do good in the world and community.
