Hello Minh Nguyen Thank you for your insight. I think that the "ovillanta" is an innovative and cheap way to kill mosquitos.
I worked on this project with two other UC Berkeley students from an OpenIDEO event in our college. Unfortunately, we were unable to come up with a concrete procedure for our prototype. However, I think that applying the "non-toxic, milk-like mosquito attractant" from the ovillanta model is a great way to lure female mosquitos (since they are the ones that bite and lay eggs). In my opinion, we would place the liquid toward the bottom of the bottle. I am unsure of the shape of the bottle that would best attract and kill these mosquitos.
