Hi Adisa Kabiru I appreciate your thorough research share and the provocation around working together to prevent future fractures.
In the US there's been an interesting evolution within our health systems where incentives haven't aligned for doctors to be able to build strong personal connections with patients, due to cultural norms, monetary incentives, etc.. One article that dives into how the US has moved away from patient-centered care that I enjoyed, is this one, 'Trying to put value in the doctor-patient relationship' a quote I took inspiration from was:
“The significance of the intimate personal relationship between physician and patient cannot be too strongly emphasized, for in an extraordinarily large number of cases both diagnosis and treatment are directly dependent on it.” https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/05/16/magazine/health-issue-reinvention-of-primary-care-delivery.html
I am curious if you've similar trends within the Nigerian healthcare system?
Giana TongiIvy Chiu and Bettina Fliegel I am curious from your different contexts what analogous inspiration from the health space that prioritize relationships between health professionals and patients?
This is an interesting inspiration and also ties in nicely with an insight the Ivy Chiu from the Hong Kong Chapter shared: https://challenges.openideo.com/challenge/healthy-bones/research/awareness-communications-matter
PS Ivy, Bettina is an amazing Chapter organizer in NY with a health of knowledge around applying human-centered design in the health space. Bettina, Ivy is a new Chapter organizer based in Hong Kong who's already doing amazing work around design for social impact excited for the two of you to connect!
