I have cut and pasted what I sent to that 'hello' OpenIDEO address yesterday in response to your initial email:
Thanks for your email.
To be honest we (dad and I) felt all those elements were....are important hence using the term, 'multi dimensional'. As you are well aware no one is prepared at all for how dramatically life will change when a loved one starts to show signs of Dementia. Think you feel completely uncertain, unarmed. The hardest thing in the beginning is the signs indicating something is different.......these can be so subtle as they were in mum's case and then you start to wonder if you are imagining them and even if you are able to convince your loved one to go to GP....the GP may not even notice anything that lends itself toward Dementia. This again is what happened in mum's case. So I guess this would be the most important element.....identifying the early stages.
It would be super if there was a way to create a platform that could include those elements we submitted and those of the others taking part in this challenge...there is some overlap. I knew the app idea would be far from original ....think there are about 4 - 5 app ideas which have been submitted Ultimately dad and I feel a one stop shop for caregivers would be extremely helpful.
My partner who is a civil and software engineer, said an app like this could be developed but who would do it and where would the funding come from? Those are always important questions. I realise there is some funding set aside for one or two of the ideas to be taken through to the development stage and beyond. I guess our app idea could be designed in such a way that elements could be continually added.
